Visiting Consultant

medium_Visiting_Consulant.jpgI started reading this two afternoons ago. I was bored and I missed reading books. I thought I should be back doing so. I finished it yester noon.

The story wasn't that appealing to me. I bought it, in the first place, because it was health care-related. And it was the cheapest in its category that I found. It's a romantic novel. I like the setting and some of its characters. I think I like it minus the romantic side. It wasn't that strong enough to convince me.

It's been a long time since I read a book. Tsk.. I have to improve my vocabulary.

Forever...

medium_Forever....5.jpgI'm glad to be back in reading fiction/novels. Well, this is just the beginning. To start, and give a brief story about Forever..., I was able to buy this book in National Bookstore for only phP65.00. That was cool. I want to get back there and look for the second "series" whatsoever, or maybe just the third one, Always.

February 23, 2006 at 12:05.. That's when I started reading this novel. I finished reading it at 21:40. I only had a bladder break as interruption. I stayed in bed during  those nine hours while having fun devouring it.

Forever... gave me good laughs and I love it. I want to enjoy a book, feel various emotions, and relax, have fun. It was also nice because it's not the typical romance novel in a sense that it has no "just the romance and carnal" part. I love the humour, a lot. ^_^

This is the second Deveraux novel I have read. Like the first one, Knight in Shining Armor, I read it the whole day for straight x hours. I'd say Jude Deveraux is my favourite romance novelist. ^_~

The Joy Luck Club

medium_TJLC.jpg I forgot to update this.

I've already finished digging this book, last month. I was able to avail this book through our university library. Nice one. What a luck. Saved me a lot of penny. But I did pay a small amount because I brought the book more than the allowed days. Who cares! It was only phP6.00 or phP8.00. Haha!

The book/novel was nice. I'd say Amy Tan gave a vivid discription of her characters and the setting. And of course, I have a good imagination. *lol* But I was having a hard time remembering the characters because: (1) There were a lot of them; and (2) The names were in Chinese. I actually have a little difficulty remembering names, especially if it's non-Japanese (referring to Asian names, may or may not exclude Filipino names).

Well, I had fun reading this book. Took me days because I had school-related stuffs to finish. But I think I could finish it within 24 hours.

The Godfather

medium_The_Godfather.3.jpgI have finished reading Mario Puzo's The Godfather today. It was 13:58. I'm so glad I've purchased the book. So brilliant. So wonderful. I think a new novel has taken the place of Robert Ludlum's The Matarese Circle, my top favourite fiction novel.

I'm loving almost every page of it. I learn a lot from it. I've come to know the great Don more. Don Vito Corleone is such a wonderful man. I'm glad Mario Puzo was able to create such character. So admirable. And there's Michael. Truly, he is his father's son.

The Godfather is really worth reading. It's not because Mario Puzo wrote it. I don't give a bother about the author. I'm always after the novel, the story. But it was a factor. This book is a legend.

The story runs about the Corleone Family. It's packed with action, drama, suspense, humour, money, women, and a whole lot more. I've even learned some medical terms from this novel. Kewl! I think it's going to be one of my motivations in studying. I really hope so. Of course, don't forget about Sicily, Mafia, and Omerta. Oh, omerta. This code of discipline measures a man. Awesome. And there's loyalty, trust, betrayal, conspiracy, and a legion of virtues and wisdom.

I am wondering how this book will affect me. Books I've read usually have impact on me. I believe my principles and values will be questioned, in some ways. I have to stand for them no matter what. Prudence, this is the most important lesson I've learned from The Godfather. I have even come to create a proverb because of this novel. "It's a shame to doubt a friend. But it is treason to betray one." So I now wonder, what if someone betrays me. It doesn't have to be fatal; big and small has no difference. Will I make some excuse? I hope it won't come that far. I will hate it. So I really need to go back to God and have me checked. And who is a better consigliere than my Father?

Book I

medium_The_Godfather.jpgI'm done with Book I. It's interessante. I want to continue reading but I need to pause, have some rest, and as of now, have some sleep. It's only two minutes before it strikes four in the morning. I haven't slept since seven pm yester night.

I am staying late again. Can't help it. It's a book. And it's The Godfather. I've been longing to read this novel for years. I'm really glad I have it now.

This is just a preamble. There's still more to post but time is my enemy. As of now. I hope this would be enough.

By the way, I regret reading this book late. Oh my... I hate saying "If only..." I think it sounds pathetic. But really, I wish I had read this book earlier. *sigh*

The Scarlatti Inheritance

medium_TSI.jpg

08 September 2006. MSN Class -  started reading Robert Ludlum's The Scarlatti Inheritance.
14 September 2006. 22:50 - I finished devouring the book.

I think this is the first RL novel I finished in a short period of time. Not that sure though. After The Matarese Circle, this is the second RL novel that is my favourite.

Elizabeth Scarlatti is my favourite character in this novel. She's just so graceful and intelligent and so clever. I like her strength and power. She reminds me of Kate Blackwell from Sidney Sheldon's Master of the But Elizabeth is better than Kate. I also like Matthew Canfield because he's so ordinary. He was not like those other protagonists in Ludlum's novel. He was so human. I just like it. Andrew Scarlett, Elizabeth's grandson, appeared as a wise young man to me. He was also brave. Such a likable man.

I had fun reading this book. I was just having a little trouble with the manners of speech used. A lot of profane and invective words were used. But then, it was the time of war. Times of trouble. The other thing I had trouble with was the dialogue in German. I don't know German; just very, very few words. Ludlum had some characters spoke in German. There was no translation.

This book, like the other novels of Robert Ludlum, sent me an unwritten message. Only the intellectual can appreciate these.

Cold Case

medium_Cold_Case.4.jpg

The colder it gets . . .
the hotter it gets.

Three years ago SFPD Homicide Investigator Kate Gillespie was in pursuit of a suspect who murdered a hooker in a sleazy motel, and she nearly lost her own life in the process. The shooter escaped into the San Francisco shadows and the trail went colder than the grave.

Now Kate's appearance on a Bay Area "crime stoppers" TV show produces new leads that carry her back into the sordid world of drugs and prostitution -- and point her toward a local crime boss whose missing wife is possibly linked to multiple men and multiple murders.

But when a dangerous knot of betrayals, secrets, and criminal cover-ups starts unraveling, Kate can only hope she'll be as lucky as she was on that black night at the Twin Palms Motel. Because the only way to the truth leads directly into the line of fire . .

07 September 2006. I was reading Robin Burcell's Cold Case from 1300H-2157H. It was a nonstop reading mode. But it was fun. I miss Inspector Kate Gillespie and now FBI officer Michael Tolland. But I found a new favourite book character. Nick Paollini. Haha! He reminds me of Jack Sparrow!

This novel, I'd say, made me lost. There were so many suspects I couldn't figure out who was the culprit. Well, I never did! Haha! Robin Burcell is cool. I'm now on a hunt on her other novels: Fatal Truth and Deadly Legacy. She's the reason why I like homicide novels. ^_^

National Bookworm Sale

I have been to National Bookstore for two consecutive days.

medium_Cold_Case.3.jpg
Yesterday
I was just supposed to drop by and check on what’s on the shelf. I saw the book I've been looking for, Cold Case by Robin Burcell. And it happened that I had enough dime for it. Of course, I bought the book.

Today
I went to Shaw for some business affair then went to Mega passing through Shang. medium_The_Scarlatti_Inheritance.4.jpgI was on my way down the first floor in Shang when I saw some books outside National Bookstore. I saw some signs: P50 and P100. I also saw two books from my favourite author, Robert Ludlum. I ran into them hoping that those were on sale. The books I saw were The Scarlatti Inheritance and The Osterman Weekwend. And I was right. The two were on a discount. What's more exciting was that it's-not just-your-ordinary 50% off. Both books' regular price were P375.00. I've already read The Ostermand Weekend so I had my interest on The Scarlatti Inheritance. It was a must buy; something not to miss in one's life. I was just sooo happy I still had enough dime to purchase the now P75.00 Robert Ludlum's The Scarlatti Inheritance! It was a brand new book. Kewl!

Davis's Drug Guide for Nurses

medium_DDG.jpg

It's been a year since I got this book. I am not trying to say that I've already mastered the drugs listed in this book. I don't have an excellent memory. But I like reading it. And it's still in good condition! ^_^ What I like about this book was the price. I bought it for about 40% less the original price. Kewl!!

This book has been so useful to me because it's one of the nursing books I love to read when I get bored. *lol* I like to read it because it looks new. =p But I don't carry it around. Books are never to be brought to school, unless it's a pocket dictionary or something handy. This book is 2" thick, about 5" or 6" in length, and about 4" wide. I have no intention to bring a two-inch thick book to school unless it's a Robert Ludlum novel. Heehee...

4 eBooks and 1 Paperback

I've purchased four e-books in the past week. I know I couldn't read them all in a day or two, even for a week, but I just thought I should buy them right away. What happened made me realized how addict I am into books. It might even rise as a vice hobby. *pats forehead*

OK, here are the e-books I bought (all in ebay.ph):

Yes. I am a big Robert Ludlum fan! *giggles* I'm just reminded of my crush. I never thought he reads Ludlum novels. Interessante. B)

But then, it didn't end there. Just yesterday, I went to Market! Market! As usual, whenever I go to mall I usually pay a visit to a bookstore. I did it when I was in Market! Market! It's where I saw books in very low prices. What I was actually looking for was Robin Burcell's Cold Case but I found none. What I got was this:
medium_Shadow_Play.2.jpgI was able to biy this book for pPh50.00 ^_^

Wanted: Crime Scene Novels

I know I am not that diligent when reading school books. It's like once in a blue moon occurence to have me long to read my notes and study. Bad girl! But of course, I like to read. It just happens that I prefer novels/stories. I think I have the need to read stories/novels about crime-scenes/investigations. I find them interesting and stimulating.

Partner-Protector by Julie Miller

medium_Partner-Protector.jpg

I stayed all night until 02:20 this morning to finish reading this book. =3 I guess I spent not more than 10 hours reading it. Heehee...

I like the book because it was about crime scenes. It's not that I like crimes. I just like how the characters figure out the culprit. When I was reading Partner-Protector, I had the intuition who the killer was. I just didn't know how he did it. There were leads to other people as suspects but my subconscious strongly believed who was the real killer. I didn't even know why he did it. I was close to answering the "why" but I was just carried away by the story that I couldn't ponder about it.

I'd love to read another crime-scene novels. I want to read Robin Burcell's Cold Case but I couldn't find it anymore. :(

Stealing Innocence

by Sylvia Hubbard

I've seen this novel before, even read almost the first chapter, but I didn't continued before because I found it not interesting. But then things have changed. I just actually happened to bumped into it by accident. The title of the book rang a bell so I decided to read along. Besides, I read an interesting 'oreview' about it.

I started reading Stealing Innocence two nights ago. My first reading ended yesterday morning, 04:59 o'clock. I continued reading it yester night then finally finished it at maybe thirty minutes past one this morning. This novel glued me to my seat.

Every Move She Makes

24 April. Monday
*Wasn't feeling physically ok so I just stayed indoors. I decided to continue reading Every Move She Makes by Robin Burcell. It glued me on my bed for almost 11 straight hours. Just had few bladder breaks.
*I ate my breakfast and lunch at 15:10. It was just a bowl of Koko Crunch. XD
*Finished reading the book at 20:24. Took a bath (kasi hindi pa ako naliligo) then ate dinner at around 21:00.

I'm definitely going to buy another Robin Burcell novel. B) Anyway, I decided to buy this book because of this:

Gruesome slasher murders are spreading terror in San Francisco. The pressure is on the police force to track down the killer before another young woman is found, throat cut, body abandoned. Homicide Inspector Kate Gillespie is picked to lead the search with her partner, old-timer Sam Scolari.

This is the case that could make Kate's career. But the next victim stops her in her tracks--Sam's ex-wife. All evidence points to him. He goes underground, leaving Kate alone to prove his innocence, or his guilt.

Kate has to find the killer before the cops find Sam. Complicating matters is Mike "Torrid" Torrance, the sexiest Internal Affairs officer ever to carry a badge. He's watching Kate, an assignment that brings them far closer than they expected. Without a partner she can trust . . . with a killer and a cop watching her every move . . . can Kate find the truth before it's too late?

Fools Die

At 01:34 this morning, I've finished reading Mario Puzo's Fools Die. Yokatta! Phew! It was the first Mario Puzo book I've read.

Fools Die reminds me of Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code. I remember being warned by my mentor to be sure that my faith is strong and has solid foundation. He was worried I might lose faith. But it didn't happen. I would even say that after I read DV Code I've loved God more. Brown's book had no bad effect on me. But Mario Puzo's Fools Die was shocking.

It was "brain-shattering". I'd say one must not read this book if his moral values have no strong foundation. Hades, I got mine almost shattered. I want to say more of its effects on me, but I chose not to. Thank God I watched The Godfather I. Don Vito's words still ring in my ear. "Don't let anyone know what you're thinking." Heehee...

Btw, I also want to say that I like this book. Sounds funny but I found affection for this book. It made me laugh, grin, love, hate, and ponder. It even moved me to tears.

The Osterman Weekend

I was able to finish reading The Osterman Weekend yester night at 23:19. Yokatta! I was able to finish reading another novel. Now, I'll continue reading the other novels.

The Osterman Weekend, I believe, is something inferior compared to the other Robert Ludlum novels I've read. I didn't find the plot interesting. I was even having a hard time gathering my neurons to comprehend the situation, the story. I was wondering hows and whys, but I wasn't satisfied even though some questions were answered. It wasn't satisfying.

And the most missing part in this novel was, I never had a "pre-MI". MI means "Myocardial Infarction". In layman's term, it is "heart attack". I'm not expecting for one to hit me that's why there's the prefix "pre-". It's actually a term I use (personally) when I read books. It means "anxiety". Too much anxiety that would probably cause for a MI. Most of the RL books I've read before gave me a pre-MI, especially The Matarese Circle. When I read that, I was actually gasping for breath!

I can still remember the night when I had to pause reading, breathe some air, or else I'd have an angina. *lol* Oh, I miss such sentiment! I would love a book that would give me a pre-MI! That was the reason why I love The Matarese Circle.

The Little Prince

It was a year or two ago when I've heard about this book. First from a church mate who doesn't actually like to read. Someone recommended The Little Prince to her. It was the first novel she read, and she loved it. So she recommended it to me (but I’ve already read a dozen books) saying, "Akala mo pambata pero hindi pala." I thought it was interesting so since then, I've had The Little Prince in my to-be-read book list.

Just post quarter the other year, I searched for someone in the internet. When I found her official website, I browsed and found a quote from The Little Prince. It was what she used as an answer to the question given to her when she joined a particular contest.

“Interessante.” I thought. My desire to read the book became more intense. I’ve so wanted to buy the book. I could’ve had if I wasn’t just quite a ‘fixed’ Robert Ludlum fan by that time.

Then came a new friend of mine who used to love reading. When we had a little discussion about books, I happened to mention The Little Prince. He said, “Maganda ‘yun.” “Sabi nga.” Was my reply.

Two recommendations from a friend and one from a celebrity, though in an indirect manner, my love to books became deeper. I actually wished I could buy the book right away.

And now, I have come to an accomplishment.

Just 21 minutes past 10 yester night, I finished reading The Little Prince. A salad of emotions filled moi, both positive and negative. Technically speaking, the book had nothing to do with those salad emotions. It was the environment.

It was nice because I did learn from the book. I usually do. But the mode of my learning was quite different. It’d be memorable. And  I still have the spot stamped in my shell. I’ve even had my ‘dislike’ to flowers grew.

Chapter 1

I’ve just finished reading the first chapter of The Road To Gandolfo. I think it’s quite interesting. It has to be! By the way, it’s the Robert Ludlum I got for free. Arthur, a stranger I met in a bookstore, gave it to me. How uncanny, but it’s so nice of him.

I need something to boil my blood. I’m bloody bored and stagnant! It’s too troublesome. I’ve got lots of things to do yet my bloody passiveness, or is it procrastination, that keeps me from moving my body.

The Tristan Betrayal

The Tristan Betrayal by Robert Ludlum

I have this book bought on the 16th of October but I started reading it the day after. Just 28 minutes past 2 this morning, I've completed reading the novel. It was nice.

When I finished reading the novel, I felt having the urge to read another Robert Ludlum novel.  I want another RL novel! It's like a drug. Addictive.

The Scarlatti Inheritance vs. The Tristan Betrayal

We went to Power Books last Sunday. I had this feeling of being overwhelmed because of the books around me. Well, I usually have that feeling whenever I am inside a good bookstore. I just love books!

I decided to check on Robert Ludlum's novels and just browse. As I "got lost" in his realm, I thought of checking on my companions, who are my family. But they were nowhere to be seen. I didn't panic, but a thought came to me, "Are they playing games on me?" Possible but so unlikely. I checked them everywhere but there's no sign of them. I saw a stairs and escalator so I thought they must be in the second level of the bookstore.

As I ascended, I saw some of our companions so I asked them where's my (real) companions. Pointing on a shelf, I saw my godfather there. Ok, there he is. My thoughts were brought back to the RL novels I've seen so I asked him if I could have one. And he agreed. I hurried downstairs and looked for the book.

The Scarlatti Inheritance was my actual prospect but I am quite maarte when it comes to the book/s I buy, or ask to be bought. It wasn't in splendid condition, no plastic cover, and there's a little fold in the front cover so I decided to look for another copy ut I saw none. Well, speaking for those in Orion publishing. I was disappointed so I decided to look for another RL novel. There I saw The Tristan Betrayal.

I still had The Scarlatti Inheritance in my other hand wondering which one should I take. In the end, The Tristan Betrayal won.

Finally! Twenty minutes past fifteen o'clock yester noon, I finished reading Robert Ludlum's The Prometheus Deception. Yokatta! So much for conspiracy, government and power.

As for now, I am reading Eiji Yoshikawa's Musashi: The Bushido Code. It's book four of the Musashi epic. I began reading it last Saturday, the day I bought it in Book Sale at SM Megamall (for pPh 65.oo).

Doomsday Conspiracy

I finished reading this book yester night at about fifteen minutes past nine or ten. It was a nice one. I was told that Dan Brown was inspired by this book so he was able to write Digital Fortress, or was it Deception Point? Either way, he was inpired. I'm not sure if it's true.

Reading the book made me 'remember' that conspiracy is part of government affairs (I think I have to to dig Machiavelli stuff). I've also realized that there are things, when other people don't want you to see, could put you at risk.

A Knight In Shining Armor

First English romance novel ko yata 'to, but I liked it. I like it. Ganda ng story. Hindi corny but there were some parts that I didn't like the heroine. "Scarey" I'd say. But I like the lead male character. I like his character, his principle. But I also like him physically. He had plenty of flaws at first, but I admire him. Those flaws just made him a real human.

I've seen this book in our room but I didn't bother reading it until yesterday. I wasn't able to get my hands off the book. I didn't even eat two of my meals yesterday. I just had dinner because I was afraid I'd get a stomach ulcer. But I'm quite sure I already had some abrasions inside. Sorry Lord.

Oh, I almost forgot. I read the novel for around 12 hours straight. I just stopped to go to the loo, do something I was asked, and eat dinner.

By the way, the author of the book is Jude Deveraux. She says the novel is about alcolohism. I'll research about this thing later. =p

Movies from Books

Can't they think of anything else but adapt novels into movies? Here's Harry Potter series, The LOTR trilogy, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Les Miserables, The Series of Unfortunate Events, The Bourne series, and now Pride and Prejudice. I haven't read this book but I'm planning to. It's a must have for me, a book addict. =p

Pride and Prejudice starrs Keira Knightley. I think she takes the lead role, most probably.

The Matarese Countdown

This is the sequel to RL's The Matarese Circle. I began reading this on June 15th in room 304 in our college building while waiting for the faculty office to open, but it was only few pages. I began digging it seriously since Saturday. So interessante. I think I've consumed 50% of the book yesterday.

I think I was too carried away that when I read the part when The Son of the Shepherd Boy confronted Beowulf Agate, I felt rigid. At the end of chapter I found myself gasping for breath! I was so overwhelemed. I even thought I could die of MI.

Speaking about MI, I felt the nerve in my right lateral nape in a protruding manner. 12nn and 22:22 yesterday.

La Fin

At exactly 11:27 today, I finished reading Robert Ludlum's The Matarese Circle. Yokatta! I'd say I read the book for three to four days, but if I'll count the number of hours it'll fall with two days. Just within forty-eight hours. I thought it'd take me more than two weeks before I could finish it. I'm glad I did not.

The book is wonderful. I love it. I want to read more novels from Robert Ludlum. TMC is my first. Molto interesante. ^_^

It's also nice because the book mentioned stuffs about Italy and Russia, two countries I am interested with. There are still more anyway.

Robert Ludlum

I just found out today, this morning, that Mr. Robert Ludlum had already passed four years ago (March). I just thought of posting it here for my memory's sake. Currently, I'm reading his The Matarese Circle.

The Matarese Circle

I went to see Sir Jake today. I was borrowing a book from him and he lent me a health book (guide for pregnants) and Robert Ludlum's The Matarese Circle. Cool! I haven't read a book from R. Ludlum. What I love about this author is the comment Chicago Sun-Times gave, "Don't ever begin a Ludlum novel if you have to go to work the next day". I don't just have a class tomorrow; It's a bloody day I have to prepare for! @_@

Reminder: I am stubborn. Very stubborn. I even call myself the most stubborn person I know on earth.

Quenta Silmarillion

The Silmarillion actually.

Anyway, I finished reading it! Yeah, I did! It was yesterday about past 16:00. 16:28 probably. I'm glad I finished reading it, for 132 days! That's 4 months and 20 days. Hehe... Now, I can start reading another book. Perhaps my mentor's going to lend me his LOTR trilogy-the book, not the movie. I can't wait to take a hold of it. Wow, I'll be entering Middle Earth and will be staying there for long. Hmmm.... adventures, adventures.

But I wish I'll be able to read my other books. I haven't read them yet because they're not of novel or story type. They are documentaries. Got 3 of them waiting to be read. =p But I'll definitelty be reading them.

Woah! That's it. Bonne chance to everyone!
