Gyah..

It feels like forever since the last time I made a blog entry here. I haven't even written one in my other blogs, except for deviantART. I've been quite busy lately, plus our internet connection is being a troublesome so it's hard to stay long in front of an almost useless computer.

What concerns me write now is my "sports-writing" hobby. I haven't written an article since the first week of the month. Speaking of sports, ESPN is annoying me right now. They don't have weekday coverage of MLB, except for Fridays. So the Baseball coverage is on Fridays to Sundays only.

Thank God they had a live coverage of the MLB Homerun Delby and All-Star Game last week!

I think this will be enough for today. I still have to study and memorize.. o_o But I'm fine with it. :)

The Hammer of God in Baseball

Mo.jpgI've finally watched Mariano Rivera pitching in the ninth inning! His 503rd save, which was against the Blue Jays, was so breathtaking. And I am saying that literally.

Everyone was anticipating for the 3 up, 3 down. Maybe they were even expecting a strikeout sweep.

The first batter on plate, Alex Rios, was struck out with 1-3. Just one ball for Rivera, a 91mph cutter. The rest were 92 mph.

Next in line was DH David Dellucci who hit a fly ball to centre fielder Brett Gardner. It was a 90 mph cutter. Dellucci bats left, but as expected, he had to switch into a right hitter to avoid breaking his bat, or being hurt, by Mariano Rivera's cutter.

All switch hitters bat right against right-handed Mariano. When it's Mariano Rivera, you must keep right.

The last to bat was the Blue Jays' catcher, Raul Chavez. I wonder how should I describe this moment. First pitch was a strike, and so was the second. Just one more and it's the final out. Would've also been an awesome record of three consecutive strikes in a single at bat.

But the next pitch by Mariano was a ball followed by another ball. 2-and-2 for both players.

The next pitch spoiled everyone as it resulted to a foul ball. But the wait was finally over when the next and last pitch, the only 4-seam fast ball Mariano released, made umpire John Hirschbeck call a swinging strike to Chavez.

It was the final out and the first win of the New York Yankees, 4-2, against the Toronto Blue Jays for the series.

Living in June 30 and July 1.

My circadian rhythm is messing again. I wonder if watching too much Baseball made my body adjust to New York time. I may be quick to figure out the real time in Manila, but my body is having a little trouble following. I must work this out.

By the way, I made a new blog. It's sole purpose is for Baseball. I'm glad I didn't rush to make one before. It's hosted by MLB. It's JenShinrai in MLBlogs. But my blog name is Hope, Faith, Love ... for the Yankees, and Baseball.

I have a new entry posted there. The Yankees had their first game of the series against the Seattle Mariners. Too bad I wasn't able to watch that; not available on ESPN. At least the game yielded a positive result. First game, first win. 8-5. ^_^

A couple of hours before the game, Mark Teixeira had a chat with fans. It was fun reading his answers about some questions. Too bad I didn't have mine answered. Should've submitted my questions earlier.
