I have finished reading Mario Puzo's The Godfather today. It was 13:58. I'm so glad I've purchased the book. So brilliant. So wonderful. I think a new novel has taken the place of Robert Ludlum's The Matarese Circle, my top favourite fiction novel.

 

I'm loving almost every page of it. I learn a lot from it. I've come to know the great Don more. Don Vito Corleone is such a wonderful man. I'm glad Mario Puzo was able to create such character. So admirable. And there's Michael. Truly, he is his father's son.

 

The Godfather is really worth reading. It's not because Mario Puzo wrote it. I don't give a bother about the author. I'm always after the novel, the story. But it was a factor. This book is a legend.

The story runs about the Corleone Family. It's packed with action, drama, suspense, humour, money, women, and a whole lot more. I've even learned some medical terms from this novel. Kewl! I think it's going to be one of my motivations in studying. I really hope so. Of course, don't forget about Sicily, Mafia, and Omerta. Oh, omerta. This code of discipline measures a man. Awesome. And there's loyalty, trust, betrayal, conspiracy, and a legion of virtues and wisdom.

 

I am wondering how this book will affect me. Books I've read usually have impact on me. I believe my principles and values will be questioned, in some ways. I have to stand for them no matter what. Prudence, this is the most important lesson I've learned from The Godfather. I have even come to create a proverb because of this novel. "It's a shame to doubt a friend. But it is treason to betray one." So I now wonder, what if someone betrays me. It doesn't have to be fatal; big and small has no difference. Will I make some excuse? I hope it won't come that far. I will hate it. So I really need to go back to God and have me checked. And who is a better consigliere than my Father?
